The Agerran Commonwealth

Representatives from all three major governing powers have come with the new colonists, in order to help establish the beginnings of a colonial government. You are here as part of the Agerran Commonwealth faction. It is vital that Phaelos III join the Commonwealth, for a number of reasons. For one thing, having the first colony since the Homeworld War willingly join the Commonwealth cements its legitimacy as the dominant power in the galaxy. Just as importantly--but more secretly--the Agerran High Command believes that the ruins on Agerre are home to a number of powerful relics, which might prove useful in the coming war.

Most of you are high enough in Agerran politics to know that Agerre is indeed stockpiling ships for a new war, as is rumored in much of the galaxy. The fleet is waiting, and if things go wrong on Phaelos III, they are ready to jump in and take the planet by force if need be. But as politicians and negotiators, you're determined to take control of the planet through less violent means. This doesn't need to devolve into bloodshed. Joining the Commonwealth is the best option for the new colony, and you'll be the ones to convince the other colonists of that. You know the Galactic League reps are going to be trying to sell their bland society to the new colonists, and you're happy to prove them wrong and argue them down until they give up and go running home like they always do.

When it comes to day-to-day politics, most of you are primarily concerned with infrastructure and defense. Your faction is working to establish things like basic transportation, energy, farming, resource distribution, and water purification systems. Structures and hierarchies are important to you. The safety of the colony is also very important. You have little tolerance for crime, and are determined not to let organized crime take root in the colony. Of course, the safest thing for the colony to do is to join the Commonwealth. Hopefully they'll understand that soon.

Description:
You were originally from Gyr, but you took to the stars when you were young. The seas never felt like home to you. You left your family behind, including your cousin E. Rett-an ((Rodney Kelly)). You tried to keep in touch with them, but the couriers came so infrequently, and their life on the seas kept them far from most technology. You joined the U.A.W. Navy, and found the home you’d been lacking. You befriended your fellow soldiers and sailors, though many were from Agerre. The crew of your ship became a family to you.

When the war broke out, you were torn. You knew Gyr was a part of the U.A.W., and on the opposite side of the war, but your best friend Jai Eraikhav convinced you to stay with the ship. You didn’t take much convincing, in truth. You wanted to stay with the people who cared for you, who treated you like you were one of them. Rather than fight, you became a medic, taking care of the wounded and injured. That suited you better, and meant you didn’t have to fight against people from your Homeworld. You met other Agerran soldiers, good people like E. Taiv ((Ross Cheung)), K. Aigo ((Rob Prag)), and V. Gorai ((Tara Leederman)).

Near the end of the war, Eraikhav was killed by enemy soldiers. Your heart hurt, and you filled with bitterness towards your fellow Gyra. Eraikhav had been your constant companion. You rededicated yourself to medicine, to making sure you never lost someone again. Then the end of the war came, and the bottom fell out of your life. Your Homeworld was gone. You had never felt loyalty to it, but it was still the place you had come from.

Your efforts to cope with that were complicated by Agerran treatment of Gyra after the war. You weren’t the only Gyra to stay in the Navy. All Gyra were allowed to remain in the military, but were relocated to Zé or the colonies under Commonwealth control, and many were given strange jobs. You were assigned to Zé to serve as doctor in Stormgate Temple, which had been converted to a massive political prison. It was perhaps an odd assignment, but it gave you time alone with your thoughts, which you sorely needed.

A few years ago, a new arrival came to the prison. A. Ya-rett ((Richard Dupell)) was a Gyra radical, leader of a movement who called for aggressive retaliation against Agerre and reparations for the Gyra survivors. You would visit Ya-rett in their cell and talk to them, asking them about their life and philosophies. They helped you cope with your grief. Recently, you were contacted by J. Suhesa ((Hakan Seyalioglu)), a smuggler from the Windlock Commune. Suhesa had been hired to break Ya-rett out of prison. You’re still not sure why, but you agreed to help. You covered up Ya’rett’s escape, and stayed quiet about it.

Where does that leave you now? You don’t know. You’ve been requested to join the mission to Phaelos III, as a show of collaboration. You’re essentially the token Gyra member of the Agerran Commonwealth, and that’s a strange position to be in. You’re happy to see old friends from the war, but you wish it were under better circumstances. Also here is T. Eraikhav ((Rob McDiarmid)), child of your old friend Jai. They’re a young lieutenant, and remind you so much of your friend. You’re determined to do what you can to mentor them, even if it hurts to look at them. You lost one Eraikhav, but you won’t lose another.

Light: You help, heal, and fight to protect people; you’re a medic, and that means you save lives, not take them.

Dark: You aren’t really sure where your loyalties lie, and that leaves you with an awful lot of betraying the trust of people you care about in your past. You’ve got a lot of lies to keep track of.

Questions:
  1. Do you agree with Ya’rett’s more radical ideas?
  2. Do you feel loyalty to Agerre? To Gyr?
  3. Are you angry about the immolation of Gyr and the destruction of your origins?
  4. What scars did the war and the death of Eraikhav leave you with?

Relations:
T. Eraikhav ((Rob McDiarmid))
A. Ya-rett ((Richard Dupell))
J. Suhesa ((Hakan Seyalioglu))
E. Taiv ((Ross Cheung))
K. Aigo ((Rob Prag))
V. Gorai ((Tara Leederman))
