The Corporation / Distant Light
The Enterios Corporation is providing the initial funding for the establishment of the Phaelos III colony, as well as owning the Distant Light, the massive colony ship transporting the colonists. Enterios has funded massive endeavors over its century-and-a-half history, but rarely of such galactic importance or political visibility. As such, the Enterios Board of Directors are watching the colony extremely closely, and the CEO, N. Stormsmith ((Erik Chen)), is accompanying the expedition in person.

SECRET GROUP: The Splinters
Seventy years ago, the experimental starship Falls The Shadow set out from Baryos on a mission to study the Horizon, the supermassive black hole at the heart of the Circinus Galaxy. Leading that expedition were Dr. Yana Kyr, an astrophysicist, and Captain Alecto Glass, of the U.A.W. Navy. As far as the public is aware, the ship was lost with all hands, and Glass and Kyr died somewhere in deep space.
The truth is much more complex than that. After a ten year voyage, the Falls The Shadow returned to known space, with Kyr and Glass among its only survivors. Captain Glass looked into the Horizon, and saw the end coming for all life. The Horizon is expanding, and will someday consume the entire galaxy. But all is not lost. The Horizon is not just a black hole--it is a wormhole, with something beyond it. As it grows, it stabilizes. Captain Glass came up with a plan: if enough matter--planets, suns, entire solar systems--is thrown into the Horizon, eventually it will be stable enough to traverse.
For the last sixty years, she has been preparing to implement that plan. In order to survive the massive radiation exposure at the Horizon, she began replacing her organs with machinery. As time has gone on, that has developed further, and she has integrated herself into the Falls The Shadow. It is both her secret flagship and her body. From it she coordinates research projects, construction, and surveillance on the rest of the galaxy.
In order to operate beyond the ship, she has taken to downloading copies of her consciousness into Augments, and sending them out as her agents. These are known as her Splinters. The first were the original crew of the Falls The Shadow, and some of those yet live, but many are fresh recruits. Each retains its original personality, with the mind of Glass riding in the back of their head, observing and advising. When two Splinters meet, their copies of Glass take over and interact. As time has gone on, the various Glass Splinters have been changed by their various experiences, but Glass Prime acknowledges this as both inevitable and useful, as different variations provide different viewpoints.
As always, however, things are not easy. Dr. Kyr does not agree with Captain Glass’s plan, and has her own band of followers in opposition to the Splinters. Kyr’s Silencers often employ biological and genetic augmentation, and are working on secret projects of various kinds. The whereabouts of Kyr herself are unknown, but Glass believes her to still be alive somewhere. It is vital to stop the Silencers, and oppose Kyr’s efforts, whatever they might be.
Through the Splinter network, Glass has learned that a group of living experiments escaped from a Silencer facility. All Splinters are under strict orders to attempt to locate these experiments, whoever and wherever they might be. If they can be brought in, they may be able to provide valuable insight into Kyr’s plans--willingly or not.

Description:
Sometimes, they try to run. They never get very far.
The Enterios Corporation is the galaxy’s foremost producer of Augments of all kinds, most of whom sign on willingly and have cyberware installed by the Corporation. This, of course, comes at great cost to the company, putting the Augment in debt to the company. Most Augments spend the next few decades working off their contracts. That’s how you got your start, just like the rest of them.
Every so often, an Augment will go rogue. They try to escape, they flee their contract, or something else entirely. Which is where you come in--you are a Reclaimer for Enterios, tasked with tracking down Augments who are in violation of the terms of their contracts, and repossessing the company’s property. You are very good at what you do, and at this point oversee the entire Reclamation division. But you are never above doing the daily work, and still actively track down runaway Augments yourself. It’s important to stay focused.
When they run, you are comfortable with and quite capable of using force. When they run, they are only making things harder for themselves. But you cannot deny the fact that there is a small piece of you that likes it when they run. The thrill of the chase is deeply satisfying.
Unlike most Splinters, you became one of your own volition. You encountered the Glass-consciousness-construct in the cyberware of an Augment you revoked, and, fascinated, willingly uploaded her into your own mind. You have been able to keep her isolated from your primary processes, and as such, she cannot take full control of your body unless you allow her to. Over the years, however, you have come to believe in her cause, for the most part, and are willing to work with her. In exchange, she uses the Splinter network to help you track down runaways. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Several years ago, you installed an exploit in the codebase of all Enterios Navigators, allowing the Splinters to access their warp data to analyze it. It was a simple program, but it caught the attention of L. Auberro ((Jules Robins)), one of the heads of the medical augmentation division. Auberro’s attempts to root out the source of the exploit would likely never have led back to you, but you’ve never liked loose ends. You arranged for T. Yanora ((Ashley Kaufman)), one of Auberro’s staff, to find a message that framed Auberro as the source of the exploit. It worked perfectly. Yanora took the bait, Auberro was fired, the exploit was patched, and the Splinters got the data they wanted.
For a time, you had an assistant, F. El-nyr ((Erica Portnoy)). El-nyr was excellent at their work, and you found working with them almost rewarding. They were a rarity--someone efficient enough to keep up with you, and even improve your process without getting in your way. Unfortunately, they did not find the work as satisfying as you do, and went on the run themself. They wiped all presence of themself from the Enterios systems when they left, meaning that you currently have no legal standing to revoke them, even if you could find them again.
Nonetheless, you are determined to find them--not to revoke them, but rather to convince them to work for you again. Willingly, hopefully, but if it comes down to it… a security exploit like the one you used on the Navigators could just as easily be installed remotely on El-nyr’s systems, and you still have the override access codes Enterios installed when El-nyr worked for you.
At the moment, you have two major targets. An Augment named Quiet vanished from the database about ten years back. They changed their name, but you have a strong suspicion they’re working with the Seventeen Hands crime syndicate, and are someone on Phaelos III. The other target is not quite a runaway. P. Caesura ((Susan Linich)) was an Enterios Navigator, but due to a medical issue was released from their contract early. That still leaves them with a significant debt to pay, however, and you’ve come to collect.
Light: You value the work you do. You consider yourself to be extremely talented, and can accomplish your job effectively. In addition, you do care about people, and you’re naturally very curious.
Dark: You’re a repo-man for a ruthless corporation, you take apart living beings in exchange for money, and you love your job.
