The Galactic League
Representatives from all three major governing powers have come with the new colonists, in order to help establish the beginnings of a colonial government. You are here as part of the Galactic League faction. You are here to support the colony, yes, but primarily you are here in the hopes that you'll be able to convince Phaelos III to join the Galactic League. The planet itself isn't that significant in the grand scheme of things, but having the first new colony world since the Homeworld War join the League would be a massive symbolic victory.
It's equally important to you that Phaelos III not join the Agerran Commonwealth. You've all heard the rumors of the Agerrans secretly rebuilding their fleet. Chances are you're worried about a potential Agerran invasion of the planet if things don't go their way. But you're not military--you're politicians. That means you're willing to undermine and obstruct the Agerran politicians at every level, to make sure they don't get their way with the planet and whatever resources it might hold.
When it comes to day-to-day politics, you are primarily focused on interplanetary affairs such as transportation, communication, and trade. How will Phaelos III deal with the rest of the galaxy? What kinds of trade routes will be established? Education is also important to you, and establishing a colonial school is an important priority.

Description:
You have always believed the best in people. Some say you are naive, or idealistic, or foolish, but in your life, your faith in humanity has often been rewarded. You were born on Baryos before the war, to a family that respected and encouraged you. You went through a series of experimental phases in your adolescence, trying to figure out what suited you best in life. You tried theater, and extreme sports (including Titan-climbing), and writing fiction, but none felt quite right.
You found your calling while playing with your young nephew, N. Perso ((Peter Lofgren)). Teaching Person about the world was a delight and a challenge, and you realized you should go into teaching. You got a degree from the University of Titan’s Passage, then moved to Dor Len Sono to study at a monastery of philosophers. It was there that you befriended R. Sano La ((Melissa Milton)), a local who became a fast friend and philosophical debate partner. The two of you sparred endlessly and enjoyably. The two of you left at the same time, with Sano La going off to seek wider wisdom in the galaxy, convinced after meeting you that she had to find more beyond just what the monastery could offer.
You stayed on Dor Len Sono, and have spent the last many years as a teacher out in the rural farmlands. Mostly you teach Gyra refugee children, many of whom have been left behind by what remains of the Dor Len school system. You have mentored hundreds of children over the years, helping them understand how the galaxy works, and ways they can make the best of what is admittedly a terrible situation.
The proudest a student has ever made you was J. Ve-nam ((Acata Felton)). Ve-nam was too young to remember Gyr, but had a kind soul, one that yearned to travel. You taught Ve-nam everything you could, and when they wanted to get offworld, you encouraged them to apply to medical school on Baryos. To your incredible pride, they were accepted. You personally financed their education, even though it burned through quite a bit of your savings. But what were you doing with that money, out on Dor Len Sono? It wasn’t doing you any good, and meant so much more to Ve-nam. You have no regrets about that choice.
Now, your nephew N. Perso has called you here, to Phaelos III. You kept in touch over the years, giving him advice and counsel as he rose through the ranks to become a politician. He brought you to Phaelos III to continue to give your wisdom, and help make sure the colony gets off to a good start, but also because the colony will need your expertise. Few of the first settlers have children, but it will only be a matter of time before families start arriving, and they will need an education. You are going to be heading up the first proper school on Phaelos III, and you’re immensely excited. You’ll need to make sure the government provides funding, you’ll need to recruit teachers, and… you can’t wait to begin.
Light: You are a teacher at your heart, wanting only to see the younger generations around you succeed and reach their full potential. You are selfless and giving, seeking to better society and make education accessible, no matter the cost to you personally.
Dark: You’ve seen exactly how hard the war hit the Gyra, educating their refugee children, and it pains you to know that there isn’t much you can do to help them beyond educating them in the ways of the galaxy and their people.
