The Order of Dawn

Every good colony needs people to take care of its people, and look out for the wellbeing of the group. That’s where you come in. You’ve come with the first group of settlers to Phaelos III, and are eager to help establish and build. You’re a mix of Paladins and Pilgrims, but you don’t let that divide you. The official organizers of the colony haven’t been great about giving you space to set up, or a proper building (or even really rooms on the colony ship to organize), but that hasn’t deterred you. The people of Phaelos III will need your help, and need your support, and you’re more than happy to provide it.

Of course, it helps that Phaelos has a rumored history of numerous ancient sites and artifacts. Many of you have a significant interest in uncovering that history, and seek deeper understandings of the ancients. Hopefully your time on Phaelos will provide you with the answers you seek, in one form or another.

Player: Sam Celeste
Name: S. Gar-la
Group: The Order of Dawn
Homeworld: Gyr
Variant: Innate
Character Coach: May Leonard ([email protected])
Description: You were born on Gyr to two members of the Silent Conversation. Your parents were diplomats for your tribe, communicating with other tribes through an intricate form of sign language. You never quite understood it yourself, and it didn’t seem as important with all of the space travel that had been going on in recent years, but your parents seemed to be happy to maintain an important part of their culture.

In your teens, you decided to explore the stars and left Gyr. You worked on a colony ship with the famous colonist, L. Vy-an (Chris Bergstresser). You learned a lot, exploring the stars, and you were looking forward to telling your parents and two siblings about your adventures.

Then the war started. Travelling around the galaxy suddenly became much, much more difficult. You weren’t sure if you should volunteer to fight or if you should stick with your colony, protecting them from possible Agerran incursions. In the end, you decided to stay, a decision you think back to quite often. By staying, you successfully repelled an Agerran invasion 5 years into the war. You protected the people of the colony and saved hundreds of lives. However, you would never see your family again. You’re not sure if they made it off Gyr before it’s destruction, but you haven’t heard from them in 20 years. You don’t have high hopes.

The Gyr military was no more. There was no real path for revenge. You couldn’t really fight an entire planet. But, you could seek Justice for those in need of help. You could protect the innocent from criminals and from Agerran military overstepping their bounds. You joined the Order of Dawn. As a member of the Paladins, you resumed your journeys across the Galaxy. You rose through the ranks, working as a peacekeeper. You specifically went to weak colony worlds, fighting space pirates and destroying organized criminal organizations that preyed on weak settlers. Agerran military personnel were often on their best behavior around you. You became the concept of Justice in the galaxy.

Now you’re on your way to Phaelos III. It’s another fresh colony world, and you’re here to protect it. You also have a lot of newer Paladins that you’d like to bring under your wing. Help them understand the good they can do for the world. They also might be sympathetic to your ideas about the Agerran military and the corruption they potentially represent. You’re not sure if you can get them to help you undermine the military’s grip on these new colonies, but you don’t know if you don’t try. Still, it’s risky for someone so important to the Order to take a political stance like this, but it might be time for the Order to take a stance.

You know your Paladins, V. Meteor (Selene O’Rourke), L. Starfall (Matt Cook), and K. Zeikai (Ania Slowinski), are exploring the ancient ruins in this area, looking for signs of older Order history. You certainly want to support them in whatever way you can, but they need to make sure they remember the importance of Justice and duty in their work. You also know the Pilgrims of Dawn are here as well, doing some community building work. You have no idea if they will be here to help or if they will get in the way. Hopefully you will be able to make sure this colony gets started off on the right foot, free from too much Agerran or criminal influence.

Light: You are a symbol of hope in a broken galaxy. You do your best to help those who would be crushed underfoot by the system. You protect those that need protecting and don’t ask for much in return.
Dark: Your world was taken from you with fire and blood. You seek to dispense a similar kind of justice on those who would get in your way.

If you found an opportunity to fight the Agerran military, would you take it?
What would you do if you found out your family might still be alive?
Will you work with your paladins on whatever their strange project is?
What does justice mean to you?
What sacrifices would you be willing to make to help someone in need?
