The Colonial Congress
Representatives from all three major governing powers have come with the new colonists, in order to help establish the beginnings of a colonial government. You are here as part of the Colonial Congress faction. First and foremost, you are here to support the colony in its earliest days. You want to see Phaelos III establish itself, stabilize, and begin to find its identity as a society and a culture. You are strongly independent, and care much more for the colony and the colonists than about larger questions of interplanetary war. You can already tell that the Commonwealth and Galactic League factions are going to bog themselves down in partisan bickering, and honestly, you're perfectly fine with that. While they keep themselves busy with squabbling, you'll make sure the actual business of running the colony happens smoothly.
Of course, you're hopeful that when the time comes to choose, the colonists will vote for Phaelos III to join the Colonial Congress, but honestly that's not as important to you as them being happy with the choice they make. You're willing to support alternate proposals, including potentially one you've heard about Phaelos III becoming a second homeworld for the Gyra refugees. When it comes to day-to-day politics, your primary interests are those that support the colonists and their lives. Your focus is on social welfare, medical access, and supporting the arts and humanities. When the people are happy and cared for, the colony thrives.

Description:
Growing up on Ottsalia, you learned to evolve to get ahead, and that you have always done. You have built connections, talked to people, and made and broken deals as easily as some people change clothes. You’ve never been overly tied to one place or one group, because in the end, you know there’s only one person you can really rely on: yourself. That attitude got you noticed by the Downcity Partnership, one of the galaxy’s two biggest crime syndicates. After making a name for yourself as a dealer and enforcer with the Ottsalian Partnership, you relocated to the syndicate’s headquarters on Din Shass, and worked you way up the ranks.
These days, you’re a big figure in the Partnership. You’re respected, and you deserve that respect. You handle a lot of the money, and make a whole lot of deals. You’re a shrewd investor, and you’re not afraid to to call in debts that are owed when things turn sour. You smuggle guns, you smuggle lives, you do what you need to do. When it comes down to it… you get things done. That’s what matters.
Publicly, you represent the Skywild Trust, an Ottsalian bank that’s actually a front for your Downcity investments. Through your careful manipulation of the truth, few people suspect Skywild, or your real background. You like to keep things that way. Skywild investments support quite a few Colonial Congress interests, and so while you’re not a member of the Congress, you’ve been invited along as part of the delegation. The Congress has a strong interest in Phaelos III, and are hoping that Skywild will invest in the new colony’s infrastructure.
That’s fine with you. Your presence here lets you accomplish quite a few other things, and make a whole lot of connections. There’s a smuggler, J. Suhesa ((Hakan Seyalioglu)), who’ll be here. While visiting Zé, you met Suhesa, and gave them a loan that let them purchase their own ship. They’ve been paying off their debt in installments, but you’ve gotten tired of that. It’s time for Suhesa to pay up the rest of what they owe--whether in cash, or in something more creative.
You’ve got a friend here as well, which is good. K. Zapor ((Jenna Brotsky)) is a scientist and researcher, and has never had much by way of ethical scruples. You’ve funded more than one of Zapor’s projects over the years, and the two of you work well together. In return, Zapor keeps you apprised of interesting new scientific developments or artifact retrieval opportunities. It’s a very mutually beneficial arrangement.
And finally, there’s G. Volti ((Andy Erikson)), a bounty hunter. They were an Augment working for Enterios, and you bought out their contract and put them to work for you. They’re good at what they do, and unlike most bounty hunters, they know how to keep their mouth shut. You’ve currently got them serving as a spy, infiltrating your rival crime syndicate, the Seventeen Hands. Volti is embedded aboard the Pearl Ambassador, one of the smuggling ships the Hands are pretending flies for their own front corporation, Stardust Shipping.
Between Volti, Zapor, and what Suhesa owes you, you’ve got an opportunity. This planet is full of artifacts of all kinds, and those are worth a lot of money. What’s more, the Downcity Partnership has a whole lot of weaponry stockpiled. You’ve read the signs, and you know that Agerre is starting to build up to go to war. You want to start supplying the Agerran military, but that means making a connection. You don’t have any direct ones yet, but you know C. Link ((Daniel Dziubinski)) will be on the colony. Link is an information broker, and if anyone knows who to talk to among the Agerrans, it’ll be Link. Of course, their information never comes cheap, but… well, you do work for a bank, after all. You’ve never been afraid to spend credits.
Light: You’re smart, competent, and capable in the things you do and decisions you make; your take on a situation is generally right, and you have a knack for reading the subtleties in events and motivations - that means you’ll always get things done.
Dark: You constantly manipulate the people around you and are always willing to throw things into chaos (even taking some measure of sadistic pleasure from it), as long as you know you’ll come out on top. You like to watch people squirm and betrayal comes as naturally to you as breathing.
