The Order of Dawn

Every good colony needs people to take care of its people, and look out for the wellbeing of the group. That’s where you come in. You’ve come with the first group of settlers to Phaelos III, and are eager to help establish and build. You’re a mix of Paladins and Pilgrims, but you don’t let that divide you. The official organizers of the colony haven’t been great about giving you space to set up, or a proper building (or even really rooms on the colony ship to organize), but that hasn’t deterred you. The people of Phaelos III will need your help, and need your support, and you’re more than happy to provide it.

Of course, it helps that Phaelos has a rumored history of numerous ancient sites and artifacts. Many of you have a significant interest in uncovering that history, and seek deeper understandings of the ancients. Hopefully your time on Phaelos will provide you with the answers you seek, in one form or another.

Description: You were born far from your family’s homeworld of Agerre on a small farming colony. Your parents were craftsmen, and your mother was well known about town for making sure any construction projects, from new barns to homes, went up without a hitch.

Your best friend was a local, Y. Gev-ryf ((David Gottsegen)), but you fell out of touch when the war began. You saw Gev-ryf again years later, a few times--they became a Navigator, and you’ve reconnected in recent years, though you don’t see eye to eye on a great many things. You think they take too many risks and behave recklessly. They are going to get themselves hurt one of these days.

When you were an adolescent, the War began. You weren’t particularly keen on fighting, and did your best keep your family together. You were pretty safe once an Agerran force took over your colony, though you watched as some of your neighbors, descendants of Gyr, were horribly mistreated at the hands of Agerran soldiers. You saw this injustice and you knew that you wanted to correct it.

One day, you had your chance. You watched as two Agerran soldiers harassed a mother and her child. You threw yourself at the soldiers, catching them completely off guard. You got in a few good hits while the mother and her child ran away. You ran too. You had just assaulted two soldiers, clearly someone was going to arrest you and hurt your family. You ran through the streets, trying to find a place to hide when you stumbled into a small shrine. You explained to the Order of Dawn your predicament, and they helped hide you from the soldiers.

After some discussion with the Order, you decided to leave the planet with them. As you spent more time with the paladins of the order, you came to believe in their beliefs and ideals. You wanted to help spread justice throughout the galaxy. You wanted to protect the weak and innocent from those that would do them harm. You threw yourself into your work, and became a renowned hunter of space pirates. Well, renowned by the travellers and merchants of the galaxy, feared by criminals everywhere. You’re not a bounty hunter, you just stop crime when you see it happening. You do good to help repair the galaxy, bit by bit.

Recently the Order has assigned you to Phaelos III. You are hoping to help the protect the innocent settlers from exploitation and defend the colony from any potential space pirates looking for an easy score. You know the other Paladins, V. Meteor (Selene O’Rourke) and L. Starfall (Matt Cook), are interested in some Ancient ruins on the planet, hoping it might give them clues to some sort of lost information on the Paladins of old. You also have word that Gev-ryf is going to be in the area, but you’re not sure why.

Light: You help protect the innocent. You fight against those who would take away someone else’s will. You’ve helped hundreds of people and saved dozens of lives. You stand for what’s good in the galaxy.
Dark: Sometimes in your pursuit of good, you can get too carried away. You can be a bit of a hothead sometimes. When you protected that child from those soldiers, if you had the training and tools you had now, you’re not sure if those soldiers would still be able to walk...
